8 Things To Do On A Summer Day – Newport, RI

Newport is one of my favorite weekend getaway destinations in the summer time as there are so many fun things to do. From beaches, shopping, outdoor activities, restaurants/bars, you name it, there’s something for everyone. I’ve listed 8 things you can do during the day in Newport, most which I’ve experienced and enjoyed.

1. Stroll the Cliff Walk
On a beautiful day, the cliff walk is perfect to put on your comfy shoes to tour the cliff walk. Take your partner or a friend with you and enjoy the scenery views.

2. Newport Beach
Summer is finally here guys! Pack all your beach neccessities (beach chairs, beach umbrella, towels, cooler, etc, and lets not forget the alcohol, haha). Newport beach is one of the crowded popular spots to go in the summer time. Although, I ‘ve only have been there once, there are ton of prime spots close by (liquor stores, bars, restaurants, etc). Who doesn’t want to lay out in the sun with some chilled drinks by the beach? There’s 5 other beaches in Newport so make sure to check them all to see which one is closer to your stay.

3. Aquidneck Boat Tours (Sightsailing of Newport)
My boyfriend recently took me on a sailing trip for my birthday on one of the Morning Mimosa Sail cruises and it was such a fun time! I enjoyed every second of it being with him, sipping on mimosas and enjoying the view. The weather was perfect temps as well. Defintely check this out if your here on a weekend getaway. http://sightsailing.com

4. Sip Wine At Newport Winery
The first time I came to this winery was for a bachlorette party, and of all the other vineyards I’ve been too, this is a pretty big winery and a great location. I liked how you choose which 5 wines you would like to try out of a huge list. Pricing is about $15-20 for a tour which includes tastings plus a wine glass to take home with you. https://www.newportvineyards.com

5. The Landing (Waterfront seating restaurant & bar)
The landing is one to check out, this spot gets pretty packed as there is an outdoor bar with beautiful waterfront views and also a restaurant that’s inside.

6. Take A Tour – Newport Mansions
Newport offers tours in their beautiful historical mansions. I haven’t been yet, but I’ve passed them and they are huge like palaces. This is one the things to explore when visiting Newport. http://www.newportmansions.org/plan-a-visit

7. Gurney’s Island – Goat Island
Gurney’s Island in Goat Island is just so beautiful and the views are literally so breathtaking! I’ve been a couple times now and I love how it overlooks the bridge. This resort & marina is perfect to sit back, sip on drinks, swim in the pool and lounge in the chairs to relax in! Really enjoyed coming to this spot.
