DAY TRIP TO WATCH HILL, RI + THE SECRET GARDEN AT OCEAN HOUSE YOU’LL WANT TO VISIT THIS SUMMER

A couple weeks ago my friend Shamika and I decided to do a day trip to Watch Hill because we’ve never been and thought it would be a fun road trip idea. We did our research and came up with a schedule of the places we would go, where to eat, and where to snap some pictures before driving back home. I reached out to the Marketing Director at Ocean House and she gave us some recommendations on where to go for food and pictures when visiting the resort.

SCHEDULE:

WEEKAPAUG INN

12:00pm – We took a visit to the sister property Weekapaug Inn, 25 Spray Rock Road. We got a little tour of the Inn and took photos near the water, on the chairs on the beautiful lawn and inside the new PondHouse, a summer pop-up which is a private dining outside overlooking the pond. To reserve this space is very expensive but we just went inside to check it out and take pictures.

OCEAN HOUSE

1:00pm- We drove 15 minutes to get to the Ocean House which is absolutely beautiful! Parking is tight around there, so the best thing would be to do valet. The price ranges from $3-$10 depending on how long you are there. Everyone there is super friendly and making sure you feel welcomed. We headed to the Secret Garden Rooftop upstairs which offers light appetizers, they hand out free popcorn, there are breathtaking views and an Instagram wall. We wanted to see what the hype was about at the Veuve Cliquot champagne bar. The drinks were overly expensive but we ended up having one drink each which was so good which it should be as it was $30 haha.

2:30pm – We left Ocean House and parked the car closer to downtown area where all the shops and boutiques were and walked over to the beach towards the back where Ocean House was. The beach area is only allowed for guests staying at the hotel. We quickly took a peek at the beach area where Taylor Swift’s home was and enjoyed the view.

3:00pm – For lunch we walked back to where the shops and food spots were for a quick bite before heading back home. We went to a small sit down restaurant called Olympia Tea Room. I had a burger and french fries and Shamika had the lobster roll. The prices were reasonable too which worked out.

We headed home right after lunch! Watch Hill is definitely a fancy upscale spot but if you’re looking to explore or just enjoy a great view and be by the water, go visit in the summer time.
