It’s October..woah is it me or did the past couple of months just fly by? It’s been a while I’ve written on here and I want to sum up the rest of my summer. I’m not ready to leave summer but with these cool temps, I’ve been wrapped in light sweatshirts and comfy loafers. You guys this summer has been a crazy wild ride for me like in a really good way. Well first off, I’ll tell you a quick summary. I got out of a serious relationship back in March so it took some TIME for me to focus on myself and lift myself back into reality. I’m still figuring that out but it’s all about taking baby steps, am I right? This summer has been full of adventures. Reuniting with old friendships, creating new friendships, weekend getaway trips, spontaneous ideas, traveling, and of course just doing ME! Some of the weekend trips were Watch Hill, RI, Boston, and a day trip to Paddy’s Beach Club in RI and to sum up the summer…a girls trip to Miami!
HOW DID MIAMI TRIP COME UP?
I’ve always wanted to go to Miami… what comes up in my head are tropical trees, nightlife scene, stylish outfits, shopping, pool parties as it’s a lively city. All my friends tell me that if I go there, I will not want to come back because it’s literally like NYC except you’re surrounded in beautiful weather, tropical trees, and fruity cocktails. I wasn’t going to take no for an answer, so after going on a boozy brunch in New Haven, CT with two of my girlies who are such a blast to hang out with, and a few mimosas in our system, we purchased a 3 day trip to Miami…I mean that’s normal right? HAHA, clearly that’s how you gotta purchase plane tickets…when you’re somewhat functioning (LOL).
3 DAY ITINERARY TRIP – OUR SCHEDULE, WHERE WE ATE, & WHERE WE STAYED…
FRIDAY SCHEDULE:
DEPARTED at JFK at 8:05am and LANDED at Miami International Airport at 11:00am
Afternoon: We checked into our hotel at Essex Hotel which is a sister hotel right across to the Clevelander. The Clevelander is a party hotel and they have 3 bars and a pool. Our hotel was roughly around $200s and it had two queen size beds, so it was great for three people. We changed into our bathing suits to head to Nikki Beach to spend the rest of the afternoon there.
Mid Afternoon: We spent most of the afternoon till about 5-6pm at Nikki Beach which was amazing! Nikki Beach is a beach club but it’s a very classy one. Since it was still considered a weekday, the day beds to relax were about $25. My friends and I enjoyed the beach views and ordered appetizers and cocktails and took tons of pics!
PS. Our hotel was about a 5-10 min uber ride to all the places we wanted to go to. Collins ave is a great area to stay close by to. Collins avenue has a strip of all bars and restaurants and fun nightlife.
Dinner: we went to Bâoli, a asian fusion restaurant which was a 5 min uber ride from our hotel and heard this place is so fun! The food was super pricey so I recommend only coming for the nightlife aspect of it. Unfortunately, we missed the nightlife which apparently has a fireshow, dancers & more. I need to come back here next time, but if you are visiting, go check it out!
Nightlife: After dinner, we went back to our hotel to get dressed and headed to Mr. Jones which is a nightclub.
Friday was a long day and so eventful, but a great schedule for just arriving the same day.
Unfortunately, it rained on and off on Saturday so after refusing to pay $100 at a pool party, we headed to Wynwood Art District to see the graffiti walls, shopping, and to eat.
Wynwood is supposedly to be one of the spots to visit when visiting Miami. There’s tons of art walls, cute shopping boutiques, and so many food options. It was downpouring at one point, so we ran into Coyo Taco, a mexican restaurant which is what we were interested in trying.
The rest of the evening, we went to SLS Hotel for a pregame party which was really fun and then stopped by the Fontainebleau to see what the hype was all about. Let’s just say I didn’t make it for too long, since the pregame party was aka wild but I am looking forward to coming back and reliving it all over again.
Sunday was our last day and later that day we went to the airport…SO SAD! We were all so tired from the past few days that we decided to have a relaxing day back at Nikki Beach. There were a couple ballet dancers in costumes which was really cool to see. We laid out on the beach chairs which was $20. Thank god it was hot out on Sunday, so we could enjoy the final hot weather one last time before heading back home.
We spent the entire day at Nikki Beach and then at 5:30pm we left to go back to our hotel to pick up our luggages then take a uber back to Miami Airport. As we were getting into our Uber, the music was blasting from both of the hotels across from us and we were so sad to leave.
DEPARTED at Miami International Airport at 7:55pm and LANDED at JFK at 11:00pm
Next time I come back to Miami, I want to stay for a bit longer and see the other spots as there is so much to do on South Beach.
If you’re visiting at all, make sure to stay around South Beach or Miami Beach since it’s a lively area with so much happening.
I had such a blast and it was great to end Summer like that. If you’ve been to Miami, what has been some of your favorite spots?
