DAY TRIP TO SPOOKY SALEM, MASS

Happy November 1st everyone! How was everyone’s Halloween this year? I went to a Halloween party and it was such a blast! I went to Salem Mass, for the first time ever at the beginning of October. Most of the historical spots and museums were booked which was a bummer but that didn’t stop us from going! Our day consisted of shopping, checking out food spots, and taking photos while coming across popular movie homes.

Brunch at Salem Opus
Brunch at Salem Opus

FIRST STOP: BRUNCH

We arrived in Salem around 11:30 am and the first thing on the list was brunch! We stopped at Opus for drinks and food then went out to explore!

SECOND STOP: SHOPPING & WALKING AROUND

After brunch, we walked to the Peabody Museum to check out the Salem Witch stories. We purchased the $20 entry ticket on the day of the event so we can check out the Salem Witch stories exhibit. We were bummed when we found out that there were separate tickets for that exhibit which were free but sold out. I’d definitely be sure to check this when you go to visit.

There were a ton of candle and tarot card shops and it was pretty busy for the beginning of October. Lines were forming and everyone had to stand 6 feet apart. There were really cool astrology gift items to shop from and tons of witchy/ghost tour stuff.

THIRD STOP: PHOTOS AT THE WITCH HOUSE

We noticed that everything was within walking distance so we made our way to the famous Witch House to take some photos. Tickets were sold out when we went so be sure to purchase tickets in advance if you want to get a tour!

FOURTH STOP: BREWERY FOR QUICK BITE & DRINKS

Our next stop was Notch Brewery to have some pretzel bites and to have some beers. The brewery had waterfront views and it was so beautiful out when we went so the views were really nice.

LAST STOP: HOCUS POCUS HOUSE

We didn’t drive all the way to Salem to not take a photo in front of the Hocus Pocus house. We quickly changed into our outfits and it was so cool seeing the historical house where they shot the movie.

After taking photos at the Hocus Pocus house, we stopped at a bakery for some treats and coffee before heading back home. We had so much fun exploring but for next year, we want to research in advance and stay overnight to get the full experience.

Although we didn’t get to go on any tours, we had a nice time walking around and visiting this spooky town. Now we know what to expect when coming for next year!

Have you been? What tours have you been to? Any hotel recommendations?
