BIRTHDAY GETAWAY TRIP AT PUNTA CANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

For my 29th birthday, I wanted to go away on a tropical trip and being home during Covid times, I was itching to escape to an paradise island for a little. My boyfriend bought us tickets to go away to celebrate and it was literally perfect timing to go away on vacation together. We went to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. It was our first time going there and after researching and hearing positive reviews from friends and family, we decided we were going there. In this post, I’ll be sharing where we stayed, excursions we did, the food, and what to expect when coming here!

WHERE TO STAY:

We heard that Punta Cana is one of the most popular and beautiful destinations in the Caribbean and there’s so many amazing resorts to choose from! Depending on what you’re exactly looking for, each resort varies (some have 2-3 swim up bars while others one may have just one swim up with more sport activities to choose from. We both fell in love with Dreams Palm Beach Resort in Punta Cana. The photos looked amazing, there were fun activities, and loved that this resort was for everyone – it included fun activities to do at night for all age groups and a combo feel of fun & relaxation. The all-inclusive is the way to go! I must say, as soon as we arrived, we were treated like royalty and the hospitality was superb!

WHAT TO DO ON THE RESORT:

  1. ENJOY THE BEACH – Our hotel had a private beach so we spent some of our days laying out, checking out what the vendors were selling, and enjoying the tropical breeze. Every time the vendors saw us, they called us J Lo and James Bond haha, it was pretty funny!

2. BOAT PARTY – Hands down, this was probably one of the best things we did! At the beach, they have a booth where you can rent kayaks/paddle-boards and they have mini excursions you can do. With the party boat, they bring you on a small boat with other guests staying at the resort, transfer you into a big boat with other guests from other resorts and then we all jump in shallow water, drinking alcohol in pineapples, dancing and music – it’s just such a fun time!

3. PRIVATE SPEED BOAT SNORKELING – We went on a mini speed boat where we were able to drive it and one staff member would give us direction as to where to go. At one point, we stopped the boat, and the two of us went snorkeling which was awesome and after that, the guy brought us back to the party area where we hung out in the water with the other boats, it was so nice! It was also my first time driving the mini speed boat back to our resort…eek!

4. NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT AT THE RESORT – Every night after dinner, the resort would have an event for all hotel guests to check out and enjoy. We loved that after dinner we would walk over to see the show. Some of my favorite ones were the magic show, the beach party that had a DJ, and the latin dancing show.

5. LAY OUT BY THE POOL – I loved waking up first thing in the morning and laying out by the pool. It gets really hot in the Caribbean so it’s really refreshing to jump in and take in the beautiful tropical views. There were a few different pools at this resort and one swim up bar which was really cool! We upgraded our room to a suite, so we had beautiful pool views and a big balcony which made the trip a whole lot better!

Check out the other activities here. There are a ton of excursions to choose from but I would contact the resort you’re staying at to make sure everything is taken care of for you!

Beach Dinner – Highly recommend!

DINING AT THE RESORT:

There were about 8 different dining options at the resort but some of my favorite ones were:

Barefoot Grill – Hamburgers and French fries (grilled favorites)

Portofino- Italian Gourmet Cuisine ( So good, one of my favorite spots)!

Seaside Grill – Grilled Specialties (burgers and fries oh so good!)

World Café – international buffet (loved coming here every morning)
