May 3rd marks a special day for my blog. Pearlsandplaces launched on May 3rd, 2016, so happy 1 year bloganniversary! I can’t believe it’s been a year as being a blogger. During my first year, I learned about: planning different outfits, taking clear photos, keeping your feed consistent, non-stop photos, engaging, and so much more!
How did Pearlsandplaces all start?
In my previous role, my coworker showed me her Instagram blog account and I loved everything about it. At the time, I had no idea there was even a blog community or if it even existed. She showed me her blog livelycrazy.com and I loved the different fashion outfits. She inspired me to create a blog of my own and it worked out since I had so many shoes, jewlery, handbags, and clothes. I started created content with the fashion staples that I had and it grew after that. Pearlsandplaces launched one year ago today.
What I learned my 1st year as a blogger:
When I first started blogging, I didn’t realize it would be a lot of work, but, it is! It takes so much time to plan everything all out. I am so happy that you guys support my blog with your lovely comments. I still have so much to grow as a blogger, but I am trying my best because it’s tough having a full time job and being a blogger. I wish there were more hours in a day but unfortunately, I try to do my best to create the best content for you guys!
Plan Outfits Ahead Of Time: Since I work full time, I always shoot my outfits during the weekend. Every time I buy a new outfit, or receive one for free, I’ll make sure I take a photo and match with a handbag or type of jewelry. It’s easier to know what your going to wear, than picking last minute and rushing. I always doll up with makeup and then get ready to shoot in many outfits.
Prepare Posts Beforehand: It can be tough sometimes to choose which photos to post and a caption. There are times where I’ll come home late from work, that I forget to have a caption ready and end up not posting. I’m learning on which photo to post beforehand and having a caption ready.
Engagement Is Key: Engaging will help you get more followers. Engagement will also make your account more noticeable by communicating and commenting. The more you comment on other blog accounts, they will notice it and do the same.
Non-Stop Photo Taking: When I explore a different city, look good in an outfit, or visit a cafe, I always take photos. For example, every time I’m in a cute cafe, I’ll always take photos of my cup of coffee and sunglasses. As a blogger, I love having my photos taken, and taking photos of cute things I like.
Instagram Feed Consistency: One thing I learned is using similar filters to make your profile look consistent. This is because bloggers know what kind of content you will be posting and makes them excited to read. Every time I have my photos taken on my camera, it takes hours to edit each photo and then choose which photo I plan to post.
Why I chose blogging?
For me, blogging is so much more than a hobby, it’s something that I love to do and keeps me busy! I have so much fun choosing which outfits to shoot in, and love getting dolled up! Shopping is my passion and I always check to see what’s in trend and enjoy it. There is still so much to learn about blogging, but I learn each and every day from you all ! You guys seriously inspire me with your photos and incredible posts. I have worked with some amazing brands and I can’t wait to see Pearlsandplaces grow.
Is there something you would like me to post more on my Instagram, or anything on my blog? Please comment below.
Would love your feedback guys!
Thanks so much for reading. XOXO
