Can’t believe we’re mid October y’all ! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays that I love to go all out for and have fun creating a costume together. October is the month of all things spooky; ghosts, witches, goblins, haunted houses, scary movies, non-stop chocolates, etc. A few years back, I’d spend so much money on an entire costume at Party City when I would only wear it once. As I’ve gotten older, I’m more aware of my expenses and now look up ideas on Pinterest to recreate a look. If you want to spend less money on a costume and think of easy DIY costumes then keep on reading.
I love Halloween because you can dress up to whoever and however you want to be. I’ve saved so much by only shopping for accessories and picking an outfit in my closet that would look good for the costume.
This year for Halloween, my boyfriend and I decided to be construction workers. Instead of buying the entire set online, I came up with some props/accessories instead. If you haven’t been to your local Dollar Store, you may want to check it out!! I walked around the store to see if there’s anything that would look good for the costume. They had yellow caution tape and orange cones for props. I had the idea to use the caution tape over an old crop shirt that I don’t wear anymore and hold the orange cones as props. Luckily, my boyfriend’s dad is a carpenter so he is lending me a vest and a hat which works out perfectly. My boyfriend is going to be wearing a vest and using his dad’s utility belt to create this look.
Stores like Dollar Tree, Jembro, Five Below, Wal-Mart, Target, Burlington is worth checking out!
Here are some examples on Easy DIY Halloween Couple Costumes:
1. Nurse and Patient – All you need for the Nurse costume is either a black or white outfit that you may have in your closet. For props, either a nurse hat, or a nurse sign on your shirt. The patient needs a ragged white shirt with fake blood drops, and hospital socks.
2. Morticia and Gomez Addams – All you need is a black dress, with black heels and then you can buy a cheap black wig if you don’t already have black hair. For Gomez, you can just wear a black suit you have in your closet with dressy black shoes.
3. Gold Digger Couple Costume – The girl can wear a gold dress that you already own with heels, and the guy can wear a suit or a money vest.
Have fun with your costumes! You don’t need to spend $50 on a costume when you can think of ideas and just shop for the accessories and props.
What are you planning on being for Halloween?
PS. This jumpsuit is one of my favorites and a great OOTD for a beautiful Fall day. The fabric is cotton, so it’s so comfy to wear, feels like pajamas. You can add a black or camel color leather jacket to wear over it if it gets colder out.
